For the university course “Understanding the Media”, our groups were tasked with creating a digital product like a podcast or magazine, and using said product to explain one of the theories of communication. Our group chose the theory of uses and gratifications and used a docu-series focused on the employment of social media as a tool by our politicians during the most recent 2020 general elections and how it aided their campaigns.

Project Overview
This episode focuses on the activities of the politicians during the 2020 elections. Jamaican elections are already notorious for the antics from both politicians and voters surrounding the event. Jamaican politics are a victim of the tribalistic attitudes of many locals, and so politicians aren't obligated to stand firmly on many of their beliefs or morals. Instead, the politicians resorted to publicity campaigns built on the back of popular dancehall music, and subsequent remixes created as campaign tracks.
For this episode, after reading the script and listening to the voice recording provided to me, I felt like I needed to find some way to convey the feelings of tension that much of the public felt at the time witnessing what was happening in our political atmosphere at the time. I tried to use some intense music to convey that feeling, and in hindsight, I definitely should've taken the time to find music with more dimension and layered other SFX to add more depth. There's little to no sound design in this project and the music reminds me of the 2007 Spider-man 3 game on PS2. However, I do feel as though the video is paced quite well.
